Why should you participate in the Contest? Two reasons:

Gain visibility with potential employers by participating in the only international student contest solely focused on hydrogen and fuel cells.

Sponsors and judges from previous years have included representatives from many leading organizations, including the U.S. Department of Energy, Chevron, Ballard Power Systems, FuelCell Energy, Linde, NYSERDA, Sandia National Laboratories, South Carolina, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Alliance, Hydrogenics, U.S. Green Building Council, and many others companies and several national laboratories. Sponsors are given each teams’ design with the winning team having their design posted on the contests’ website. The winning team will also be featured in contest press releases and via our media contacts.

Each year we aim to provide students from winning teams with an unforgettable experience. This year is no different.  For the 2013 Contest, winning teams are planned to receive:

  • Expenses-paid trip to present design to thousands in a session of a major industry conference. Package includes $5,000 travel stipend for air fare, hotel rooms and meals. Conference registrations for team the team is complimentary. (Grand Prize winner only)

  • Entry submitted for publication in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, the leading peer-reviewed journal on the field of hydrogen energy

  • Under Consideration: Invitiation to present design as a poster presentations (Honorable Mention winners)

  • Under Consideration: Priority consideration for summer internships at participating sponsor organizations (Grand Prize and Honorable Mention winners)

Some additional prizes may also be planned for the winning team, e.g. opportunity to meet legislators, participate at events and conferences, etc. depending on availability.
